According to the Gas Chromatography Method HJ/T 35-1999 for the Determination of Acetaldehyde in Exhaust Gas from Fixed Pollution Sources.
2. Method principle
Sampling with sodium bisulfite solution, acetaldehyde undergoes nucleophilic addition reaction with sodium bisulfite to generate stable alpha hydroxysulfonate in neutral solution. Then, acetaldehyde is released by co heating in dilute alkaline solution, separated by chromatographic column, and determined by hydrogen flame ionization detector. The retention time of the standard sample chromatographic peak is qualitative, and the peak height is quantitative.
